Comments then: This took forever. When I first read about the Halloween Funfest at Starmen.net, I knew I had to participate, but I didn't know what to do. Naturally, I asked Matt after agonizing over it for a day or so, and he popped off super-cool-awesome idea right off the top of his head. Just like that. I set work on it that day, and had the sketch done by the time he got home from work. I did a preliminary color test to decide what sort of look I wanted, and then began fussin' and a-feudin' with GIMP's ridiculously unintuitive excuse for a pen tool.

Half-way through, my motherboard dies. My two month-old motherboard dies. No reason. No spike, no surge (and I have a pretty darn good UPS, even if there was one), no anything. Just shut down one night, nothing the next day. So after a day of testing to ensure it was the felled component, I get in a little more fussin' and a-feudin' with Newegg's customer support rep, to ensure that they'll replace my board, and pay for return shipping (which they didn't have to do, as I was outside the 30-day return period), I dismantled my box (whom I've come to call Humpty Dumpty, for obvious reasons), packaged up my mobo, and shipped it off.

After my new one arrived, it was a couple days before I could install it, because I had no thermal paste for my processor. Lots of bad stuff happened after that. My graphics card didn't like my new mobo, and my power supply is both too old and too weak to support my new motherboard, and new graphics card. But against all odds, I finished it, and got it in with two days to spare, only to realize the deadline was pushed back.

Comments now: I won first prize in the Halloweeniest category, and got a super cool Mani Mani statue made by Meela, and a Starman sticker and button! You've no idea how much that tickled me.
